Tom Stanford wants to retire to a quiet life in the south of Cornwall. He arrives in Mullion in the autumn of 2023 on the cusp of selling his coffee business to enable his new lifestyle. He doesn’t anticipate that his life will be completely turned upside down when he meets Lowena, a local white witch and expert pool player.

He and Robert Trelawney, Lowena’s ex-husband, clash and Chesten, Lowena’s daughter, spirals out of control. Caja, Lowena’s younger sister, has a shameful past and Lowena tries to hold it all together. Several tragedies afflict the family. There are tensions brought about by second homers, property development greed and a sense of lost Cornish identity. However, Cornish independent spirit shines through, eventually leading to a redemption of sorts for the survivors.

Mainly set in Mullion, Camborne and Carn Brea, the twists and turns of their lives span a decade from 2023 to autumn 2033.
